Spring is always a busy time from a marketing perspective. Now, I live in Ottawa, and spring is certainly not here yet, snow and ice is still on the ground and there are certainly a few storms in our future. Still, marketing-wise there is a lot of preparation on-going, read on for more details.
Firstly there is a new whitepaper, jointly authored by Intel and Wind River (registration required). The paper provides a good overview of the technologies involved. One of the quotes I like is "The trend towards multi-core is well underway, as evidenced by IntelĀ® dual-core and quad-core processor shipments exceeding single-core processors."
Then there is the Multicore Expo, which Wind River is a big sponsor of. I am very much looking forward to this event, as it provides an opportunity to talk about one of my passions: Using the hypervisor to define a logical platform independent from the physical platform. This allows system design to be done against the logical platform and then to be mapped against the physical platform. This mapping ('late binding') is easy to change ('agile') and provides for a host of benefits.
Lastly, I will hit the road with a bunch of colleagues with a roadshow on multicore and virtualization in North America. We will talk about multicore and virtualization (no, really! :) from both a business and a technical perspective. It will be a very interactive event, so if multicore/virtualization is your game or in your future and you have time, then this is a great (and free) seminar to attend.
