Consortia
We are committed to standards. We built our DSO solution on them and are taking the lead in promoting them. A few examples of our commitment include driving the Device Software Development Platform project at the Eclipse Foundation; providing transparent Inter Process Communication (TIPC) support for messaging on the backplane between different operating systems; leading the way on Carrier Grade Linux with the Linux Foundation; and participating in AUTOSAR for automotive applications.
Consumer Electronics Linux Forum (CELF) focuses on the establishment and promotion of Linux-based digital consumer electronic products. CELF's main activities include defining requirements for a variety of extensions in Linux-based consumer electronics products, as well as collaborating and reaching consensus with open source projects and the Linux community, thereby promoting the proliferation of Linux-based digital electronics.
Eclipse Foundation enables tool providers to have ultimate flexibility and control over their software technology.
Khronos Group is creating open standards such as OpenGL ES and OpenSL ES to enable the authoring and acceleration of dynamic media in devices such as mobile handsets.
Linux Foundation Mobile Linux Initiative (MLI) is dedicated to accelerating adoption of Linux on next-generation mobile handsets and other converged voice/data portable devices and to providing a mobile profile for the Linux Standards Base (LSB).
LiMo Foundation is advancing the creation, evolution, promotion, and support of a globally competitive, Linux-based software platform for mobile devices and cultivating an ecosystem of complementary products, capabilities, and services. Wind River is a core member of LiMo and participates on the executive committee, the architectural council, and the requirements council with the other founders and core members.
Moblin.org is a community website for software vendors and Linux users to collaborate, share solutions, and contribute code. One specific community in Moblin is driving solutions for MIDs. Optimized for Intel Atom processor technologies, Wind River is building a MID solution, spanning the entire software stack, from BSP to applications. Along with open source contributions to Moblin.org, Wind River is offering a commercial solution for MIDs.
The Open Handset Alliance (OHA) is a partnership of leading mobile technology providers who have joined forces to create a complete, open, and freely available next-generation mobile platform called Android. The goal of Android is to simplify the development and distribution of mobile applications by providing a Linux-based mobile platform that comes out of the box, ready for commercialization. Wind River is a Linux commercialization partner for the OHA, providing services to Open Handset Alliance device manufacturers and other OEMs to port the platform onto their respective hardware platforms and optimize it based on their specific requirements.
WiMAX Forum is helping promote and certify the compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products using the IEEE 802.16 and ETSI HiperMAN wireless MAN specifications.
