Wind River Network Switch Software Advances and Supports Networks of the Future

Posted on April 17, 2013

Wind River has developed software for the creation of SDN-optimized network switches. Wind River Open Network Software (ONS) provides a complete network switch software environment and supports the Intel® Open Network Platform (ONP) Switch Reference Design. Wind River ONS is designed to enable software defined networking and network function virtualization switching workloads. Wind River software and Intel hardware have been optimized to provide high performance and flexibility. More information about Wind River ONS is available here.

Affordability by Design for Aerospace and Defense Systems

Affordability is important. But maximizing resources is challenging when every program comes with its own design criteria that limit program managers to using fixed-function, proprietary resources that are difficult to reuse. In this white paper, we will cover the factors and design recommendations that drive greater affordability into aerospace and defense platforms.

  • Creating and developing standardized software products that can be reused
  • Achieving long-term profitability by consolidating different platforms
  • Using technologies with high technology readiness levels (TRLs)

Security: The Key to Affordable Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Cost efficiency and affordability will always be key design criteria for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Much discussion has focused on the use of open systems architectures (OSA) as a means of reducing costs. However, there is another design criterion that impacts costs and affordability even more than open architecture: security.

Embedded systems used in critical infrastructure are undergoing a dramatic evolution. They receive large investment but must work securely in a future in which all things are connected. Virtualization abstracts the hardware from the software and isolates environments, enabling you to reuse your IP, saving time, money, and risk while allowing innovation and future-proofing.

LEARN

  • Common market requirements for aerospace, automotive, defense, industrial, and medical
  • About the evolution of embedded virtualization for critical infrastructure
  • Key features of Wind River® Helix Virtualization Platform that enable application migration, portability, interoperability, intelligence, and safety-certification

Simplify Your Move to Multi-core with Simulation

The benefits of multi-core are pervasive and real. But the added complexity of multi-core system development has slowed adoption. Simulation offers a way to accelerate the business benefits of multi-core without further complicating life for development teams.

Learn

  • Benefits gained from using simulation for multi-core development
  • How Wind River Simics improves efficiency in the design, debug, and test of multi-core software
  • Ways to phase Simics into your multi-core development and testing

Accelerate DevOps with Continuous Integration

A How-to Guide for Embedded Development

Your team wants to adopt DevOps and Continuous Integration (CI) practices in order to meet the growing demand for faster delivery of new features. But implementing these practices can be a challenge due to the dependence on target hardware. In this white paper we discuss key strategies to break the dependence on hardware, implement CI, and greatly accelerate your software development.

Learn

  • How to constantly improve and update your products by implementing DevOps and CI
  • How to scale your testing beyond what is possible with hardware alone
  • How simulation can automate testing and enable better collaboration and more thorough testing

WHITE PAPER

Certify Faster with Simulation

Safety is critical, which is why certification is important. Passing certification requires ample preparation, which can be time consuming, stressful, and expensive. But it doesn't have to be. This paper describes how using simulation can dramatically reduce your preparation effort while simultaneously increasing your likelihood of certifying—the first time.

Learn

  • Master the challenges and seize the opportunities in this new era
  • Adopt a more holistic design approach to meet the intrinsic demands of IoT
  • Incorporate the lessons learned across the IoT landscape in your new product designs
