AgustaWestland Project Zero - Winner of 2014 Grover Bell Award

L.Pirotta

Congratulations to the AgustaWestland Project Zero Team on receiving the coveted 2014 Grover Bell Award from The American Helicopter Society (AHS) International, which is the world’s oldest and largest technical society dedicated to enhancing the understanding of vertical flight technology.

Here’s excerpt from the recent announcement:

The Grover E. Bell Award is given to the individual or organization that has fostered and encouraged research and experimentation in helicopter development.  This year’s recipient is AgustaWestland’s Project Zero Team. The team successfully designed, built, and flew a highly innovative, one-ton, all-electric vertical flight aircraft in six months that established many world firsts, and worked as a lean and highly agile integrated team of 16 companies across three continents.

We are proud to be part of the Project Zero Team.  AgustaWestland relied on Wind River VxWorks 653 Platform and Wind River Professional Services to design, develop, build, and test Project Zero in six months.  See video of Dr. James Wang, Vice President of Research and Technology, and Luigi Riccimoretti, Chief Project Engineer on Project Zero discussing Wind River’s involvement in building this revolutionary aircraft.
