Today we introduced the availability of Wind River Analytics, an integrated data collection, monitoring, analysis, and reporting solution to optimize the management and operation of a distributed cloud network. It delivers the visibility to make proactive and informed decisions to maintain 5G clouds while reducing operational costs as carriers move toward wider adoption of AI for operating their networks. Distributed cloud computing systems, especially those for 5G and edge services, will generate massive amounts of data. There is incredible potential to intelligently use that data to run the network optimally; however, it would be impossible for any human to analyze all that data and properly put it to use. Analytics opens the door to untapped potential by automating data collection and analysis across all layers of the system to help operators identify trends, detect anomalies, and prevent problems.

Analytics and the monitoring of edge clouds will be critical to day-to-day operations. According to a Heavy Reading study investigating operators’ 5G attitudes, when asked about the importance of the analytics of edge cloud infrastructure, 56% of operators responded with monitoring for security as their chief interest, closely followed by performance.2 Additionally, there is an increasing desire for analytics. In every sector, corporations most successful in digitally transforming are gathering, integrating, and managing new forms and sources of data far better than their peers.3 New types of analytics from the edge and the core will make a difference in the digital transformation of businesses across markets.
